APIS encourages a love of reading in all students. To this end, we ensure that our school libraries have a constantly growing collection of appropriate books for all grade levels. Students have dedicated library time each week to view our selection of books, choose a book they love, and take the time to enjoy reading. Students are able to check books out and take them home. Students are responsible for replacing any books that are damaged or lost.
Our school librarians track students’ reading progress and available to help students find a book they will love.
Online Reading
As part of our Primary English curriculum, APIS has a subscription to Raz-kids, a popular online book reading and listening program from the United States of America, in order to encourage students to build and improve their reading fluency outside of school.
We recommend every student spend at least ten minutes daily reading Raz-kids books at home. Raz-kids can be accessed through a web browser (www.kidsa-z.com) or by downloading the free application on a smartphone. Please contact your child’s teacher for any questions about their log-in information.
